St Petersburg: City of history and history in the making. The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ is possibly its most photographed historical building; today the city is now also annual host and home to the powerful St Petersburg International Economic Forum. Construction of the new €340 million terminal at Pulkovo with a capacity of 17 million passengers is planned for completion in 2013. Like other major Russian cities St Petersburg is now an important centre for luxury retailing – a factor extending to Pulkovo where the airport’s Lenrianta stores operate in joint venture with Aer Rianta International.

Geography

  • LED is located 15 km from the city centre and has highway connections as well as regular bus lanes and taxi links to the city centre and metro stations. 15 minutes by public bus to the nearest metro station.
  • LED is directly connected with city ring highway. An elevated express train project is under advanced planning.

The striking new terminal roof and envelope are designed to accommodate the heavy snowfalls experienced in winter. The internal layout of the new terminal consists of well-defined and separate zones connected by individual walkways to echo the external layout of islands and bridges which make up the city.
