  • Lisbon Airport is going through a major Expansion Plan for the period 2006-2010.
  • Main objectives of the Lisbon Airport Expansion Plan are to support the expected growth in the present traffic up to 2017, guaranteeing improved levels of quality, comfort and safety in the service provided.
  • Moreover, this plan should consolidate the position of the Airport as a European hub, increasing the capacity of the system for the circulation of aircraft, enhancing the quality of the service provided, and increasing the handling capacity of the terminals (passengers, baggage and cargo), in balance with the capacity on the air side, so as to meet the demand until the opening of the new airport in 2017. By the completion of the Expansion Plan in 2010, the capacity will have been increased to 40 movements/hour, that is, about 4300 passengers/hour.
