Get sent to Coventry: The airport's owners would welcome incoming airlines with "a comprehensive incentive scheme as well as guaranteeing long-term costs allowing for prudent budget planning." The city clearly has a lot to give – besides a long industrial transport heritage, Coventry's recent exports to Beverly Hills include both fancy cars and Clive Owen.

  • CVT would support any new route to the airport with a comprehensive incentive scheme to reduce airline set-up costs as well as guaranteeing long-term costs allowing for prudent budget planning. In addition to this economic benefit package, CVT would also consider promotional marketing support to assist in establishing new routes on a sound footing. This would also be supported through effective PR and in-house marketing tools.

A growing major city at the heart of the UK: Steeped in ancient history, metropolitan Coventry has a population of 310,000. Famous residents included Lady Godiva, who staged an early protest against excessive taxes, and Peeping Tom, whose actions cost him his sight, but gave the world an instantly understood expression for voyeurism. Today the 18,500 students at the city's University of Warwick provide an obvious, mobile catchment opportunity.

An enduring role in engineering: Jaguar's Whitley Engineering Centre is developing next generation models such as the Jaguar C-X75. Meanwhile its owner, TATA, has restarted volume car production in the city – the Vista model, billed as the 'first serious electric vehicle,' goes on general sale in 2012. At its peak in 2006 Coventry handled nearly 8,000 tonnes of freight. The resident cargo carrier is West Atlantic.

Now that's a proper castle! Warwick's 11th Century Castle, and Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace (3 million annual visitors) are both globally important tourist attractions within 30km of this very uncongested airport.

  • CVT/EGBE is 5 miles or 8 kms from Coventry city centre. It is also just 11 miles or 17 kms from Warwick and 19 miles or 31 kms from Stratford-upon-Avon.
  • CVT/EGBE is at the centre of the UK's motorway network, meaning than 60% of the country's population is within 120 minutes of the airport.
  • CVT/EGBE has regular bus services which connect it to the city's train station. From here services on the West Coast Mainline run from London to Scotland. Central London is only just over 60 minutes away. Trains from Coventry station can be caught to national, regional and local points.
