Important infrastructure developments and/or other news
Accommodation of A380 aircraft
Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport was certified in 2008, and is now capable of receiving aircraft for commercial services, with Satellite S3 already having six A380 contact stands. Two other contact stands were opened in Terminals 1 and 2C in 2009. Three airbridges are provided, one of which serves the upper deck of the A380.
Single security checkpoints
In order to save time for transit passengers connecting within the European Union, single security checkpoints were introduced, eliminating the need for additional security checks. Currently, the system is already in place at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, for T2D/T2D, T2F1/T2F1 and T2G/T2E transit passengers, and further checkpoints will be opened in 2012. Their progressive implementation also rose customer satisfaction and cut back transit circuit time.
CDG - Satellite S4
Satellite S4 - a boarding lounge of similar size of Satellite S3 – is due to be opened in 2012. Its provisional capacity will be about 7.8 million passengers per year, serving 16 aircraft contact stands. Like Satellite S3, it will be linked to Terminal 2E by an automated people mover system.
CDG - Connecting module for terminals 2A and 2C
A new infrastructure covering 16,500 m² offering single boarding area for both Terminals 2A and 2C was opened on the 27th of March, 2012. It allows passengers to go through security controls more quickly. It also offers extra space for further retail and airline lounges.
